How to Create an Invoice Online

A practical, step-by-step guide to creating your first invoice online using LLM Converter's free invoice generator.

1. Collect the details you need

Before you open any invoice tool, make sure you have the basics ready: your business name and address, client details, what you are billing for, and how you want to be paid.

  • Your business name, address, email, and website (if any).
  • Your client's name, company, address, and email.
  • A clear description of each service or item you provided.
  • The price, quantity or hours, tax rate, and due date.
  • Your preferred payment method and any bank or wallet details.

2. Open the LLM Converter invoice generator

Go to our online invoice tool and choose a template that matches your brand. Classic and Minimal work well for most freelancers, while Modern, Wave, or Elegant can be a better fit for agencies and design studios.

3. Fill in your business and client details

On the left side of the generator, start by entering your own business information, then your client's details. These appear at the top of the invoice and in the bill-to section.

  • Use a real business address and a professional email.
  • Double-check the spelling of your client's name and company.
  • Add your website or portfolio link if you want clients to find you again later.

4. Add line items, tax, and totals

In the Items section, add one line for each service or product you are billing for. Enter a short description, the quantity or hours, and the unit price. The tool will calculate line totals, tax, and the grand total automatically.

If you don't charge tax, you can simply leave the tax rate at 0%.

5. Add payment information and notes

Use the Payment Information and Notes sections to explain how and when you expect to be paid. This is where you can add bank details, PayPal email, or other payment methods, along with late fee or legal notes if needed.

6. Download your invoice as a PDF

When you are happy with the preview on the right side, click the Free PDF or Paid PDF button. Free exports include a small watermark; paid exports remove it and help support further development of LLM Converter.

Your invoice will be downloaded as a PDF file that you can send by email or upload to your client's billing portal.
